Criminal Minds, for the curious

I’m like this for a different cop show. Copaganda is a serious concern but some casts are just perfect.

The earlier seasons were particularly good at how they handled character interactions between the team - little glimpses into their personal life outside of work that were touching or funny, or ones that showed the characters had a real friendship that was separate from their work relationship. Good Found Family vibes. IMO, it really helped that the cast seems nice and they really get along with one another IRL. You feel that friendly, good energy.

And one of the few cop shows where they show male characters consistently being sensitive and thoughtful. It's like they were trying to show examples of positive masculinity, which is so rare.

Agreed on that first part! The team dynamic is why I got sucked into this show for a hot minute even though I generally hate violence/murder shows like it.

I mean not Hotch, his actor got fired for being totally unhinged.

Yeah, the characters were what drew me to this show, too, along with some of the themes they touched on. Plus, the show explored the aspect of crime stories that I'm always most interested in, which is the "why" of it all.

But the characters were definitely what got me hooked and kept me watching. I like shows with good ensemble casts, and this one is a nice example of that. The chemistry between everyone felt believable and real and I liked how they worked together and all had their own specific talents they brought to the team.
