I still LOL at how all the Star Wars people freaked out when Knives Out released and it was good. They were totally paralyzed, they didn't know how to respond.

The Cal-Arts style is just godawful at drawing anything.

Funnily enough it was actually Looper that put me off him for a little bit.

I loved Brick and enjoyed The Brothers Bloom. I’m usually up for sci-fi and even time travel, but the characters, the plot, and the visuals of Looper really didn’t work for me.

So I wasn’t sure about Knives Out and was very pleasantly surprised by it and the sequel.

(I dropped Poker Face early in the second season, but maybe I need to go back to it in a different mood.)

Folklore Christmas cards

(Anonymous) 2025-09-07 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Bit of a longshot here, I admit, but every year I used to get some Folklore Christmas/Yule cards from a company called Hedingham Fair, but it CTE earlier this year. Does anyone know where I could buy cards in the same style? Is any other company picking up the baton, do you know?

And is there anywhere else I could ask that might have a better idea?

Criminal Minds, for the curious

Since they closed, it’s hard to know their style but Google did show a few examples. Google also had similar styles from other companies in the results so I’d start there.

Etsy would be the next logical place. You’ll need to use a lot of keywords to search and still be prepared to page forward many, many times to find anything. Etsy has been overrun with Temu and AI, to say nothing of the accounts that steal artwork from other listings/websites. Honest makers get shoved to the bottom of search results, unfortunately.

I don’t think TLJ is a good example of his work though. You can see that the movie is the result of studio interference. (I am strictly addressing the objective failings of the film; I’m not getting into a “I liked it/I didn’t” debate)

I know there are some rabid SW fans who hate him for “ruining” Star Wars or whatever. But even if they’re very vocal in some places, they aren’t the majority of SW fans. There are tons of people who either enjoyed TLJ despite its objective flaws or acknowledge that studio interference was the cause. They’re perfectly willing to watch Johnson’s other films and the Knives Out series is very popular.

Postcrossing might help you out, they have a forum where you could ask people.
Since there are lots and lots of postcard writers and collectors on there, I'd be surprised if nobody could help you out! Good luck.

What exactly do you mean by "objective flaws"? Because I think that kind of objectiveness is extremely rare when it comes to media. It really is way more subjective than people like to admit.

Can you see it where you are? I see it faintly from my balcony.
