Didn't he have a whole identity crisis in one episode about how he started out wearing women's clothes for the Section 8, but realized he was kind of getting into it? Like, the episode itself kind of brushed it off because it was a show about the 50s that was made in the 80s, but still. That was a thing.

You’re not wrong, there’s a bit where it clearly becomes a thing he does rather than a way of getting discharged. And even an episode where Klinger gets rashes from having to wear his standard uniform and Dr. Freedman suggests wearing a slip underneath, describing it as a very healthy coping mechanism.

But towards the end, after Radar leaves, I think, Klinger just drops the dresses entirely. People say that Jamie Farr was worried about his kids getting teased at school because of his character cross-dressing, but I don’t actually know.

I've heard that too about Farr's kids, and given the time period it's not implausible.
