Not me personally but I've seen it happen a lot with MLMs. Suddenly, people from your high school/college days you haven't heard of in year pop back in just to give you their shitty MLM sales pitch/try to recruit.

Yes, but they always wanted to sell me something or beg for money, not draw me into fraud.

My brother mostly only reappears in my life when he wants something, usually money but occasionally to try and drag me into some new scheme. When I was younger I would go along with it because I just really wanted my brother to like me/be in my life, but at this point I know how to handle it without falling into his schemes.

A friend from middle/high school wanted to reconnect, took me a while to do so because I was going through a lot.

Pretty quickly found out they themself were going through a lot when we tried hanging out, and I was kind of just meant to be uncomplicated and an absorbent pad for all the shit they wanted to let out.

A part of me feels like I could have stuck around and try to make things work, but another part of me knows that I don't always have to be other people's savior.
I have a history of wanting to fix things/be helpful to others.
