I don't hate the characters that get saddled with this but I absolutely hate that trope, I can see in some cases where it might be applicable, as in: if she does this in the canon then fair enough if it crops up in fic. But it's way overused in fandom to annoying levels.

Agreed. Or at least I hate the way writers use these characters. I'm only familiar with 2 out of these three examples but imo Lydia was the worst.

I learned not to trust Slash fics with the woman characters at this point.

I hate this character trope in BL webcomics, the female friends of the leads are often written so one-note.

I remember a lot of it started out as an in fic rpf thing originally, then spiralled into the dumb bitch who knows better than you category. I especially hate it when the character isn't only smug, but angry about it too, like fuck off it's not your life!
