What do you mean by how to navigate the US? Like literally how to come here or live here? How to just keep up with the news? How to navigate the laws about what is happening?

I feel you on the doom amd hysteria. Shit is rough here right now.

How to keep up with the news without wanting to die and how to contribute help even if you live in a deep red state.

Personally, I take it in waves. And I give myself breaks. I won't read news on the weekends. I have to keep up with it because of my job. But I keep. an eye on my mental health and make sure I have the weekends to recharge.

As for helping - find one local resource you are interested in and get involved. It doesn't even have to be political. Helping at the local level in any way will help you feel more grounded and you will see the direct results of your actions. Animal rescues, habitat for humanity, food pantries, after school programs, librraries, there are a ton of options.

This is the answer, as much as there is one. Especially in a red state. Find a single local group that is doing something concrete in your community to help, and help them as much as you can. It doesn't have to be politically oriented and the people running it don't have to agree with you politically, as long as they aren't being actively hateful around you or in their work.

You'll be more resilient for seeing something you do making a difference even on a very small scale, people who are less miserable and feel like they've been helped are less likely to be hateful to others, and building yourself durable in-person local networks is probably the most valuable thing you can do on a political level, too.

as for the news: block it. You'll hear what you absolutely need to hear from the real people you're now talking to on a regular basis, and the rest of it is only out there to exploit you anyway.
