AYRT

Honestly, I'm allergic to them as well. My allergy doc straight up said I need to get rid of her, but obviously she's not going anywhere. I'm allergic to so much though, that literally that same appointment two different doctors stopped while walking by to ask how I managed through the season. (trees, grass, weeds, are all terrible)
I might start wheezing whenever my anxiety/stress levels acts up, but I'm not going to die, I have an epipen (from my severe food allergies no less), but she's going to stay until she can't anymore.

I really wouldn't recommend getting a cat if you do suffer though. It does suck that there aren't any hypoallergenic cats aside from the Egyptian(?) ones though, especially since they're known to be difficult, afaik.

if you're talking about those naked cats I'm allergic to them too, apparently my allergy is a reaction to cats' skin, not just their fur.

Really? That's very interesting actually. It's usually just their dander. It reminds me of my friend who has an allergy to milk, everyone tries to correct her and tell her she was lactose intolerant, but she's fine with lactose, it's the milk itself her body can't process.
I'm very curious though, I mean, I doubt you've interacted with many naked cats over the years, but is it a touch reaction, or is the allergy so severe that you react just by being near them?
Either way, I mourn your kittylessness! Allergies are the worst!

I have to take extra strength allergy pills to pet a cat or even be in the same home with one, and I can't live with one at all. :(

Ahh, I can't even imagine! I had to give up horse riding between my allergies and work, and it absolutely broke my heart. Especially since the rescued horse took to me as much as I did to him. I can't even think about how he felt. I'm allergic to horses even more than a food allergy that nearly killed me as a child. Obviously horses aren't anything like cats, but to have your body prevent you from being with, or doing something you love just sucks.

Maybe they'll be able to humanely breed a hairless horse, or allergyless cat in the future and we can both indulge cute animal fun time!
