Maybe have fun doing fantasy recasts and hoping for a revival that way? But yeah, I've gotten into a few older shows or games and it's always that double edged sword of "so much fun!" and "this is so old there is no hope for more."

I feel that! Although, I've found it can also be a relief: watch on your on schedule without feeling you're falling behind, no other fans' opinions to grapple with (do I agree? why? why not? do I care?), a built-in excuse not to like the thing (it's old) or an excuse to like the thing despite it's quality (well it's old, I knew that going in!)...

When I got into Sharpe years ago, I had a lot of fun exploring it on my own. A fandom of one! I've read some fanfic, and it's always lovely to meet other fans in the wild, but not having to participate has always felt very comfy to me.

Every time I see a secret like this, I think OP should post/write it anyway on an alt account or username, even if it's an unpopular character. Chances are you might attract people who feel the same way or are searching for this exact thing.

There will always be people who want to read what you write. Maybe not the majority, but I bet there are people who fan that character and would be so excited to see random rarepare pop up!

Idk if the fandom is toxic or how you feel about it if people give you random hate (I tend to just ignore it but I know it gets to some people and that is valid) but I say go for it.

I like her as a character but hate her as a person--because I had a Celine in my life all about hiding flaws and looking perfect.

I'm still untangling the problems in my thirties.

Acting makes up for this. I have a few old TV series that are cheaply made but the plot is top notch. Idk what it is about the newer TV but it's so predictable. Come to thing about it Star Trek TOS is very low budget.

The hair is very 80s, and afaik BBC was ass in the 80s. None of the cheap shows I like were made in the UK. I know some funs of Robin of Sherwood, Blacks 7, 7th Doctor Who but it's all rather badly made, with boring plots and over acting, like it's a kid show. So a huge nope to the 80s BBC from me.

I don't think this is new at all. Some types of fandom drama have been amplified in very unpleasant ways by today's social media, and whether it's the majority or loud minority in any given fandom changes over time, but when I joined fandom nearly 20 years ago, there was plenty of this stuff, and I've come across it when looking into zines and fic archives for even older fandoms... I do think it's harder to stick to your fandom corner than it used to be for sure, not impossible but harder.
