Re: What characters have the biggest disconnect from canon depiction to fanon depiction?
(Anonymous) 2025-09-20 06:49 am (UTC)(link)At first, yes, but he's very clearly a snubbed, wannabe, told to be bully, who always takes his medicine. He get's turned into a ferret, punched, and hit with a murderous spell Snape made, and then a hell of a lot more. Later he breaks down, makes friends with Myrtle, saves Harry when pressed to identify him, and tries to stand with the good guys in the final battle at Hogwarts. Draco is a flawed character, but unlike the intention of the trope, isn't actually all that hot, and has enough character growth to prove he deserves some respect.
I admit, I was late to the fandom, and was never a Draco/Harry shipper, but I do know that the trope was made very early in the series, and has generally been understood to not have held up over time.
