Cozy is slice of life

It's a particularly neutered subgenre of slice of life. Slice of life CAN have fairly high stakes, it's just not going to be on the "we're saving the world from the evil villain" level of things.

The entire point of cozy is that it's minimal stakes and minimal conflict. So yes, cozy falls under the umbrella of slice of life, but it's not comparable to a lot of slice of life which actually does have stakes and conflict.

Slice of life is a sitcom. There's still "conflict" but not world-ending conflict, like ayrt said above me. Cozy strips out even the sitcom hijinks and shenanigans, which is why I noped way out of any recs in that vein.

Yeah, exactly. I can think of lots of slice of life media that actually does have fairly constant conflict/tension, it's just not world-ending conflict, like you said. It just means the stakes are lower, not that they don't exist at all.

What you just described is cozy fantasy. Low stakes is the whole thing, not no stakes

No, there is conflict in cozy. Idk why you are assuming cozy=no conflict? It is usually just small scale local personal conflict, not world ending stuff. There are also hijinks and shenanigans in cozy fantasy. Idk what books you've tried or where you're getting your definition from.
