I liked crossovers when I was younger, but that was because they were rare (from TV shows I used to watch anyway, I actually don't know how frequent crossovers were in DC/Marvel comics back then), so it felt much more special. Nowadays, I agree, it's oversaturated and EVERYWHERE.

Tastes change as you get older, it happens. But also perhaps you've gotten bored of the fandom style of smut-fic, I enjoy it but it does absolutely follow along the same kinds of tropes even if the characters and situations differ. So it wouldn't surprise me that people will get bored of that over time.

That’s interesting, I wonder why you have such an aversion to them.

As a great fan of the idea of crossovers, I can easily see just not finding them interesting or finding it annoying to bend the rules of two fictional worlds in order to make them match. But I don’t understand an “ick” reaction as well.

I think it depends on the fandom and maybe also the platform. There are daily in depth discussions about the canon in most of my fandoms. Fic is fic; some is better and some is worse and some is so wildly OOC that it’s practically destined to be made into a movie starring Robert Pattinson.
