(Anonymous) 2025-09-24 01:46 am (UTC)(link)But for all the grief fandom gives the sequels for "not having a plan", the fact that the EU writers didn't have a guideline/bible really hampered me when I tried to read chronologically. So much inconsistency from one book to the next.
I do love the unintentional laughs the EU gave me! Mace Windu being BFFs with Dooku was one of my faves.

(Anonymous) 2025-09-24 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)This is also true of the sequel trilogy. But there's a lot less of it. There's like 10x as much truly good EU (especially if you include some of the actually good Disney EU) as there is truly good sequel trilogy canon, so it's easier to just avoid the bad.
Also like. The EU wasn't budget-busting heavily marketed Hollywood A-list. It was midlist SF authors being paid jobbing rates. So yeah I judge the movies harder.

(Anonymous) 2025-09-25 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)The rest of the sequel trilogy? I've read almost all of the EU. Absolutely NOTHING I read was as bad as The Last Jedi. And don't even get me started on that absolute dumpster fire that was The Rise of Skywalker.
