I want to agree, but TROS just made everything great about the sequels into shit.

But for all the grief fandom gives the sequels for "not having a plan", the fact that the EU writers didn't have a guideline/bible really hampered me when I tried to read chronologically. So much inconsistency from one book to the next.

I do love the unintentional laughs the EU gave me! Mace Windu being BFFs with Dooku was one of my faves.

Even if there were only some parts that were really good, that's STILL way more than can be said about the sequels, which are overwhelmingly pretty bad.

I assume by EU you mean the works that Disney has grouped under "Legends". The best you can say about them is "wildly inconsistent".

This is also true of the sequel trilogy. But there's a lot less of it. There's like 10x as much truly good EU (especially if you include some of the actually good Disney EU) as there is truly good sequel trilogy canon, so it's easier to just avoid the bad.

Also like. The EU wasn't budget-busting heavily marketed Hollywood A-list. It was midlist SF authors being paid jobbing rates. So yeah I judge the movies harder.

Now this is a SECRET. Controversial and utterly wrong. Maybe you'd have a point if you were just talking about just The Force Awakens, that wasn't COMPLETELY horrible.

The rest of the sequel trilogy? I've read almost all of the EU. Absolutely NOTHING I read was as bad as The Last Jedi. And don't even get me started on that absolute dumpster fire that was The Rise of Skywalker.

Very late for the secret, but interesting that when talking about the new Disney canon and EU everyone only pits the EU books against the new movies (tbf, this is what the secret is about, but...)

I'm not as into the new movies, but I'll be honest, I like the new books, games, and Lore more than the pre-Disney ones.
