I sometimes wonder if I'm just too old

to know where the newest fandom spaces are. I remember just knowing where to move when fandom inevitably shifted and you'd kind of follow the BNFs or big mega fandoms. Now it just seems like we're in a lull where new stuff just doesn't get the same type of fandom hype, but also I wonder if I'm just horribly out of the loop.

This is so weird to me because I never did this. I went where my own interests went, not what other people were into, and sure sometimes I’d end up in a popular fandom but not because I was following other people there. What a strange way to do fandom.

You very much misunderstood.

NAYRT but I assumed they were talking about fandom migration from one platform to another, not actually following other fans to new fandoms. When everyone left LJ, they stated where they were headed and linked their new place for others to find them. That doesn’t seem to be the case for those who stopped using twitter and tumblr.
