Oh man, I love the show but happy and upbeat it is not, lol. I would not be impressed if someone recced this to me along those lines because oh boy would I be in for a disappointed ride on that front.

It's a good show but we don't need to lie about what it is, I'd rather someone not watch it because it might be too much of a downer for them then be mad that they were mis-sold on a show.

The Expanse is so good, and watching it makes me feel giddy because it's so good. But joyful and upbeat? The Expanse?

Nahh, I rarely ask for recs because in my experience most people don't actually care what shows you like to watch and just give their own faves any chance they get.
