At least in cdramas, this has been happening for a while but I think the popularity of super short dramas has increased a lot recently. I haven't seen any, myself, so I can't really comment except to agree that dang, that seems way too short to develop a decent plot? But my guess is the majority of viewers don't care about characterization, etc. and they're just filling in the plot with familiar tropes and shipping. People do the same thing with fanfiction that lacks plot and decent characterization. They're mentally filling in the holes and enjoying their favorite tropes.

I think this is more likely just getting people to click than it is about the content itself. Particularly with the k and c-drama content, they want to get views by pretending to be a real source, but not actually give the effort to actually do any work. The cha-ching is what they're after, any fans they might get in the time being is just consequence.
At least I think so if I'm not reading you wrong. I'm assuming there's some sort of law they're avoiding by making their episodes so short otherwise.

Either way, don't give them a watch cause that just sounds sketchy as shit.

Oh man, I love the show but happy and upbeat it is not, lol. I would not be impressed if someone recced this to me along those lines because oh boy would I be in for a disappointed ride on that front.

It's a good show but we don't need to lie about what it is, I'd rather someone not watch it because it might be too much of a downer for them then be mad that they were mis-sold on a show.

Props for the excellent voice acting but this character reaaaaaaaally grates on my nerves in a way that turns me off the show. Don't get me wrong, there are unlikeable things about all the characters, but Cheryl's frequent screaming and other vocalizations get to me.

One thing I like about her is she's one of the very few examples of the craziest character on the show being female.

The two main alcohol sellers are really strict anti-alcoholics, the "binge drinker" characters are not getting portrayed in a way that actually promotes drinking and the player character always only gets non-alcoholic drinks despite being more than old enough to drink. All of the drink recipes mention they're the non-alcoholic versions and iirc, the main drink mixing minigame didn't have alcohol either.

i think it's that people found it boring or slow, which i could see. there isn't a whole lot that can happen when the setting doesn't change and all the characters are introduced within the first five minutes. as someone who enjoyed it, i'd say i don't think it was really horror, or as horror-driven as people expected it to be

AH! Already commented on the secret maker thread, but yeaaaah SAME.
Funny thing is I started watching the show because a friend recommended to me saying "it has canon lesbians! with a sex scene!" and my interest was immediately piqued. Unfortunately, while I really really like Caitlyn as a character (possibily my favourite character arc overall), I find CaitVi incredibly boring, aha.

Jaivik has been my main ship since february and GOD I love them. I love how fucked up they are and their devotion to one another and how badly Jayce fuck up at almost every turn. And Viktor is basically a character written just for me. It fits so many of my favourite character traits it's insane.
I also find the class struggle between the two of them more fascinating than for CaitVi, which is a little strange since in CaitVi is a focal point in their relationship while for Jayvik it's just hinted upon whit a couple of comments.
IDK I just love Jayvik aaaaaah...

An awesome character, but that type of guy in real life is beyond annoying. A man-child who needs instructions for basic life things. He and Clair work well together because she's a micro-manager who likes being his mother. But that kind of many would drive me up a wall very, very quickly.
