AH! Already commented on the secret maker thread, but yeaaaah SAME.
Funny thing is I started watching the show because a friend recommended to me saying "it has canon lesbians! with a sex scene!" and my interest was immediately piqued. Unfortunately, while I really really like Caitlyn as a character (possibily my favourite character arc overall), I find CaitVi incredibly boring, aha.

Jaivik has been my main ship since february and GOD I love them. I love how fucked up they are and their devotion to one another and how badly Jayce fuck up at almost every turn. And Viktor is basically a character written just for me. It fits so many of my favourite character traits it's insane.
I also find the class struggle between the two of them more fascinating than for CaitVi, which is a little strange since in CaitVi is a focal point in their relationship while for Jayvik it's just hinted upon whit a couple of comments.
IDK I just love Jayvik aaaaaah...

Canon relationships bore me

But I also feel vaguely guilty for not liking them if they are LGBTQ. I mean, I may *like* them but I'm sure as hell not gonna fan them. My fandom activity is for purely vibes and non-canon confirmed nonsense XD

Kinda same. I might like one or the other canon ship but I have zero desire to participate in fandom about them because the work is already done, it's already canon, no need to add anything.

+1

I generally don't ship canon ships because coming up with headcanons and how my ship would get together is fun.

Yeaaaaah while I appreciate the canon lesbians and was hopeful, both Caitlyn and Vi fell flat to me, especially in the second season and the weird resolution of the overarching class dispute.

Unfortunately, JayVik also didn't pique my attention (a pair of white guys being the juggernaut ship? groundbreaking) but at least I have Sevika <3.

Jayce isnt white lol

And by weird American race standards, Viktor also kind of isn't, he's Slavic.

Fellow lesbian... I also found Jayvik more interesting than Caitvi. Heck, I shipped Jinx and Ekko more than Caitvi. I think it was mostly because while Caitlyn and Vi were very intriguing on their own, whenever they were together romantically, it was a bit boring. The lead up was better than the fulfillment for sure.

I liked the romances in this show just fine, I'm not fannish about any of them however as none of them really pulled at me, I was more into the characters in general. But gosh I'm afraid I'm not with you OP as I found Jayce so insufferable since season 1 I could not ship him with anyone. Good for you and all since it seems like a popular ship, but yeah, I'm sitting shipping out in this fandom lmao.

(Anonymous) 2025-09-29 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah... like, I like the ship but I kinda prefer it in the onesided tragic pining way because Jayce is a dick.

It's just fandom, maybe the dynamic appeals to you more or maybe you would rather read something less like your real life relationships. Nothing wrong with that.

(Anonymous) 2025-09-29 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think you have to feel guilty about it. I don't dislike Caitvi as a ship, but the relationship didn't hold anything for me because the show kind of ... had them together because they were the main pairing of the show. And all of their "will they/won't they, break ups/get togethers, etc" felt very formulaic because it was a fairly "tell don't show" approach to writing it. To me at least, it fell flat compared to the way basically every other relationship (platonic or not) on the show was depicted.

Meanwhile, Jayvik was always about the bonds that kept them together and then apart, so reading any romance into it is incredibly easy.

My shipping surprise upon watching Arcane was that my OTP ended up being Vanco/Zaundads. I really thought it would be Caitvi or Jayvik but nope.

Yeah, joining the other people in saying CaitVi kinda bored me the way it happened in the show.

I really liked their flirting! And I kind of wonder if League of Legends features more of that dynamic? But them getting together amidst 50 bajillion other things happening and them face/heel turning / being too depressed for a relationship except as a form of pure distraction/avoidance every two episodes (as it felt to me) was just kinda meh. Wish their relationship had had a bit more time to deepen and slow burn and have more cute moments and growing intimacy/trust/cooperation before the hard times and plot twists/double agent stuff hit. I feel like if Arcane came back (RIP) and featured Caitlyn and Vi in an established relationship of two people who have each other's back and casually go on missions together with lower stakes, I could be into it again.

On the other hand, I really enjoyed JayVik's whole fairy-tale-esque cosmic lovers joined in apotheosis thing going on. It had vibes of Utena and Anthy, Madoka and Homura, [insert characters from Princess Tutu], [insert friendship trios from Kingdom Hearts] to me. I think it was a weird, otherworldly relationship vibe that actually worked fine/better as the stakes of the show kept going up, which I appreciate.

You being a lesbian has absolutely no relevance to liking that pair at all.
