Anyone thinking about Halloween yet?

[personal profile] iff_and_xor 2025-09-28 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)

I know it's a little early, but anyone considering dressing up or decorating?

I haven't done either in about a decade, but maybe this is the year I try to do something again. Nothing too elaborate, just a little prop-and-makeup thing and going to the local parade.

I am going on a group backpacking trip that weekend! We plan to have a fire and smores and spooky stories and some of us are toying with dressing up for the hike. But it's spot where you have to carry in all the water and everything so might not be worth the fun for the extra pounds/space a costume would take up. Maybe just fun hats? We shall see!

That sounds like fun!

Minimal-burden Halloween costume is also a good challenge. But even without that, campfires with scary stories sounds very appropriate.

We don't get much in the way of Halloween stuff where I live, but I do have a poke around online, and I check in with some of the bargain shops where I am to see if they have anything fun.

Yeah, I’m always in favor of cobbling something together from available bits and pieces. I might take a look at the charity shops and see if I can find a complementary black jacket or similar.

I usually go all out for Halloween but this year I’m recovering from surgery so won’t be able to decorate.

Sorry to hear that, I hope your recovery goes well. What kind of decorations do you usually do?

My flatmates aren’t keen on that kind of thing, but I enjoy what some of our neighbors put up.

I have gravestones and some of those life sized plastic skeletons. I also make figures using masks and charity shop clothes. And I made a fence with styrofoam cooler blocks. It takes up the space in the garage where my car should go and it’s honestly rather a pain to deal with so I may give it away this year.

I have decorations I put on my desk, but I don't know yet what new office situation is. We shall see.

You know, I didn’t even think about decorating at work since I haven’t had a proper office desk in a while, but I did used to enjoy working at places where that was a thing.

The person who is 'in charge' of the house I mainly work in (we call them Lead Staff) has the house all decorated up, with a black-painted xmas tree covered in skeletons and spiders and things, purple twinkle lights, etc. Just added Halloween-themed throws to the couches. A party is planned, costumes, and possibly a haunted house. The ladies are very excited. I may wear my witch hat (as an overnight person 9 nights out of of 10, I don't participate in a lot of stuff).
At my house...I'm not doing anything yet, but am contemplating a jack-o-lantern. We'll see. :D

Actually thinking I'll decorate next week and get it out of the way, that way I can enjoy Halloween all month long.

I'm vending at a local maker's market Halloween show so yeah, I have to think about it. I don't usually carry Halloween-specific items so I'm rushing to sew up some cute hats with orange and black decorations.

I’m out in the country so we don’t get trick or treaters and I don’t decorate the outside of the house. I have a few fall themed decorations I put around the house for my own enjoyment.

Sure, I am. Don't know of any parties yet though.
