i think it's that people found it boring or slow, which i could see. there isn't a whole lot that can happen when the setting doesn't change and all the characters are introduced within the first five minutes. as someone who enjoyed it, i'd say i don't think it was really horror, or as horror-driven as people expected it to be

Given some of the new horror movies that rated higher than this one, I'm going to say it's probably not that. From what I read of audience reviews, a lot of people were expecting something different (maybe because of how it was marketed?) and then left dissatisfied with by the ending.

I haven't seen the movie but read the plot summary and that'd be my guess, too - a lot of people really dislike open endings. This is especially true when the plot dangles a mystery like who's that mystery lady in a veil and then doesn't deliver a truly satisfying explanation and resolution.

I didn't dislike the movie in and of itself, but I feel like it was marketed as 'spooky ghost' and not 'allegory for depression', maybe so people would go watch it?

I just like movies where the supernatural is actually supernatural so I was disappointed in that aspect.

It was cinematically a very good movie to me though.

Ahh, I almost watched this, but I am a complete coward and couldn't go through with it.

What were peoples issues? This seemed like a pretty straight forward haunting as far as I limitedly saw?
