A couple of them hit that way for me. Really uncomfortable in a visceral way, but at the same time not totally satisfying or well-executed as pieces of TV.

With this one, I wonder if it’s partially the way everyone around her is so on the same page that this is normal and even desirable and that her discomfort is perplexing and irrational.

That is a good insight and definitely could be part of it. How she was slowly going mad but nobody seemed to acknowledge her or acknowledge that what they were doing was weird, and how that just added to the madness.
