Games thread!

I want to disagree, but... yeah, I think you have a point. I do love Agnes Nitt, however.

I have fond memories of the Dragon Prince and Dragon Star trilogies from my teenage years. They were some of the first big epic fantasies (with dragons!) that I read and loved. The Exiles trilogy didn't grab me as much, but I was disappointed when Rawn didn't publish Captal's Tower. I understand she had a lot of mental health issues going on? Don't know for sure, tbh.

And I couldn't get into the Glass Thorns series at all.

I hope this doesn’t come across as smug, but this is one of those feelings that I’m really grateful that I don’t have. It actually took me a while to realize that other people really are that emotionally invested in things in a way that either not having an ending or having a bad ending makes them wish they’d never started it at all. That’s so different from how I feel that I just couldn’t quite wrap my head around it for a bit. I get very attached and invested too, but if I enjoyed the first part, I’m still glad I got to experience it, even if it’s never finished or finishes in a way I don’t like.

No, I get it OP. It's not your dad but it's bringing you some kind of comfort which isn't a bad thing, we all cope with grief in our own ways and if watching some older men eat some food and talk about it helps, then carry on as you are.

It'd only become an issue if it's impacting your ability to life your life, not just using it to help deal with the grief.

Same. I've been disappointed by an unfinished series or unsatisfying ending and yeah, that sucks. But I've also been a consumer of media for quite some time and frankly, this happens a lot. It's just one of those unfortunate things in life.

I can't with WiP, be that published or fic.

The exception being books that stand on their own but continue on in a series. Like the book wraps up stuff, but whatever series might come later just is in the same world or opens up new avenues and just builds on what was there. I just hate cliffhangers or openended mysteries in ongoing series.

For what it’s worth, it doesn’t sound unhealthy to me. I’ve definitely derived some important comfort from seeing or hearing calming strangers online when I didn’t have that kind of presence in my life.

It seems like you’ve found a lovely corner of YouTube that I am happy to have learned about.

I have SO many blood donation shirts. The prints last forever but I inevitably get a hole in them.

It's been my rule for ages. I don't start tv/movies/book/game series until they're completely done and most people agree it was a good ending. Sure, I miss out on the heyday of the fandom, but my brain will absolutely ruin the whole thing for me if the ending is shit.

This sounds amazing! I’m so sorry for your loss and happy you’ve found some comfort <3
