Oof, yeah. Plenty of M/F ships I adore, but fics can be a huge hit or miss on that front. Either she is reduced, or both are, and it can be frustrating.

It's not like it doesn't happen to f/f or m/m, but it's a lot easier to spot it before reading.

I'm the opposite - there are very few canon m/f pairings I like because it usually reduces the female character to an appendage, but fic can often do better. Or at least, it's easier to spot quickly!

Oh, sure! Althought most of the m/f ships I like are not canon, so they tend to be solid characters on their own without suffering the love interest curse outside fics!
