I am not a fan of reading about female bodies/sex (dysphoria reasons) but I adore the pairing.

I do understand why it's not a popular trope, but this was just a chat between friends not like I was crusading for m/m xena/gabrielle!

now see, this is very important. It's also unfortunate, because some people really wouldn't understand. there are comments further down that touch on this, too - that it was such a protect lesbian rep ship that changing it for any reason would have felt like betrayal to some people. But if your reason is dysphoria/dysmorphia, you can't help it. But you can explain till you're blue in the face and some people still won't accept it. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. So yeah, it's sad that a friendship had to end but that's life, sadly.
