I mean, I get not rooting for unlikeable characters (whatever that means to you). For me, plenty of immoral people can still be likeable as fictional characters and whether I want them to succeed or not, I find them compelling and enjoyable to watch.

I couldn’t categorically say that I wouldn’t watch a series about a “Muslim priest”. (I think you mean an imam.) If it was about the finer points of Muslim belief or practice, yeah, I might not be very invested. But if the character was involved in stories that sounded interesting? I’d give it a shot.

Akram from Department Q is clearly a practicing Muslim and I actually hope it comes up a little more next series.
