I'd guess it's the one username per email. I could send invites to myself at other emails. Making a second (third, fourth) email should be easy but I kinda get OP's wondering why one email can't have multiple unrelated accounts. To slow down abuse? "We invested pseuds why can't you use that?" idk man.

Just make another gmail, OP. I know it's not 2003 and we don't all have multiple yahoos, hotmails, and aols, but ffs it's that easy.

Do most people not have more than one email? That seems weird to me. I've always had at least 2, usually more like 4 or 5.

idefk anymore, man. I have three! But I wouldn't be entirely shocked if Kids These Days (TM) as they change everything about how we use the internet are also down to one email with 47 different social media accounts tied to it.

and yes all three of my emails have their own AO3 so I can keep my ancient 90s tv fics well away from my wrote-last-year anime fic.

I’d guess like AYRT that OP used all of their invite codes. We only got a handful and in the early days the sign up took months so it was really common to give them to our closest LJ friends. I just checked and I don’t have any left (signed up in 2010).
