My fandom used to have so many long one-shots and multi-chapter fic. Now there are mostly (very) short fics and chapters. They're still good, for the most part, but I often find myself missing the long, meaty fanfic.

I've tried being the change. I'm only one person, though.

All fandom has pivotted to that. It is because AO3 allows a plethora of drabbles and then love bombs the writers for having "done something", which just gives them endorphin hit which means that they get instant gratification for doing fuck all else. AO3 has truly ruined fanfic.

I don't think it's AO3, it feels like an extension of social media culture. I'm an artist and there's a similar pressure to "just draw something" to get likes and retweets with little effort. It sucks.
