I was genuinely surprised ot hear Liam Hemsworth described as having a "pretty" face. I don't think any of the Hemsworth brothers have pretty faces, tbh. Not that they're ugly, they're just (IMO) unexciting specimens of the hyper masculine, rugged, square-jawed look that Hollywood prizes and many straight men think of as the ideal for men,* so they assume that all women prefer this look, too. This type has never done anything for me. I don't like bulging sacs of muscles with square heads on top.

* I didn't say that no women find this look attractive, but I bet someone is just itching to claim that I did, because of poor reading comprehension.

How dare you say we piss on the poor?!

(Anonymous) 2025-10-15 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
+1 You get it, nonny!

(Anonymous) 2025-10-14 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, but OP, OP, you do know a lot of women do like that look, right?

(Anonymous) 2025-10-15 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'd be willing to bet that if you went out on the street and did a random poll of women asking if they think these men are attractive, a majority of them would say yes.

(Anonymous) 2025-10-14 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Middle guy is obviously appealing but yeah, the other two I'd walk right past in the grocery store and never do a double-take. Poor dudes laboring in hot brother's shadow.

(Anonymous) 2025-10-14 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Left guy (the youngest) actually had his career kick off first!

But they all look like Aussie surf bros to me, Chris in the middle is more symmetrical but that's about it.

I gotta agree, this is not an aesthetic that I find particularly interesting. Only really good acting and/or story will make this kind of forgettable cookie-cutter look interesting, and alas....

(Anonymous) 2025-10-15 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
It's okay. No one finds you attractive, either, nor have you done anything in your life worth writing home about.

(Anonymous) 2025-10-15 10:45 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, put down a random person on the internet who is simply stating that the looks of some famous people don't appeal to them. Liam Hemsworth is going to read this and ask Case to chase you down so he can fuck you and marry you for standing up for his looks. You are the hero we all need in these troubling times.

ITA. They don't do anything for me, but objectively I think they're handsome. Not pretty, though. They look like what some het guys seem to think "pretty boy" means, which is basically a man who is well-dressed, with a good haircut, well-kept facial hair, and a face that is ever so slightly less than 100% ruggedly masculine.

Basically:

*Good-looking guy walks in who made an effort and doesn't look like a bulldog*

Some het men: Check out pretty boy over here!

(Anonymous) 2025-10-15 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that's it exactly! It's an aspect of toxic masculinity that it's seen as effeminate to take care of your skin and hair and be well-groomed and not dress like you rolled out of bed the day after a big frat party.

Whereas when I hear someone say "pretty boy", I think it's a male with delicate, beautiful features, who does all of the above things.

(Anonymous) 2025-10-15 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
That's such a stretch. There are women who do find these guys pretty, and it isn't because of toxic masculinity, or because het men told them to.

"I'm a woman, I like X, and I think that X is pretty" is a statement of opinion, nothing more. There isn't some singular thing that the reified category of "woman" likes, and your preferences certainly aren't guaranteed to be representative of whatever that would be.

They're okay.

I like Chris Hemsworth chiefly because his Thor is very charming, but I feel that way about actors who aren't really very good-looking in isolation. I find the older version of Humphrey Bogart attractive even though...well, if you look at him carefully, he's actually not. His characters were just awesome.

But the Hemsworths overall are what I would consider "blandly" handsome. Not striking, but not plain, either.

Of course, handsomeness is subjective, too! I don't get what people see in Cumberbatch, but I find Cillian Murphy handsome, even though he can look a little...odd depending on how he's styled.

Personally I didn't get Cumberbatch until he grew the beard for Doctor Strange. That's the only role I find him hot in personally.

Liam does nothing for me personally. But Chris is perfect in every way for me, at least for one of the types I'm attracted to. I love his face, his body, his hair, his everything. Yes, please.

Warning, a nitpicky criticism of Chris Hemworth

(Anonymous) 2025-10-15 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
IMO, his eyes are small and a little close together, and his brow is quite low. It gives him a somewhat caveman-ish appearance, especially combined with a very muscled figure. Now, I will say that the way he looked in the Ghostbusters reboot almost changed my mind - in good shape, but not looking like He-Man, the glasses helped with the eyes/brow thing, and his sort of nerdy business look was A+ top himbo. But I think I'm in the minority to think he looks better there than he does as Thor.

Ghostbusters look was really good on him! And funny to boot, the headshot photo bit kills me every time

This reminds me of 'My Parents and Chris Hemsworth'

Yeah, I'm with you on that. Based off that picture alone, I think Luke is the best looking of the three, but none are particularly "pretty".

(Anonymous) 2025-10-15 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
It's strange seeing them lined up like this, lol. They all have the Hemsworth eyes, but Chris looks like they melted down the other two and strained out all the best bits to make him from them.

(Anonymous) 2025-10-15 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
I think they're all super handsome XD
*although Liam's the least appealing to me and IDK what it is

But I get that it's because they have really symmetrical features, the small nice smiles with pretty blue eyes and blonde hair. Pretty enough, plain enough, not too much. Just enough masculine to feel like they will protect you. But also softened edges to not feel too masculine that it might be easy for them to turn on you and hurt you. It feels safe.
