ITA. They don't do anything for me, but objectively I think they're handsome. Not pretty, though. They look like what some het guys seem to think "pretty boy" means, which is basically a man who is well-dressed, with a good haircut, well-kept facial hair, and a face that is ever so slightly less than 100% ruggedly masculine.

Basically:

*Good-looking guy walks in who made an effort and doesn't look like a bulldog*

Some het men: Check out pretty boy over here!

Yes, that's it exactly! It's an aspect of toxic masculinity that it's seen as effeminate to take care of your skin and hair and be well-groomed and not dress like you rolled out of bed the day after a big frat party.

Whereas when I hear someone say "pretty boy", I think it's a male with delicate, beautiful features, who does all of the above things.

That's such a stretch. There are women who do find these guys pretty, and it isn't because of toxic masculinity, or because het men told them to.

"I'm a woman, I like X, and I think that X is pretty" is a statement of opinion, nothing more. There isn't some singular thing that the reified category of "woman" likes, and your preferences certainly aren't guaranteed to be representative of whatever that would be.

Yeah. I mean, this is nowhere near every het guy I'm talking about, to be clear. But there are some het guys who almost seem to write off the actually pretty guys entirely, like what they look like doesn't bear thinking about. I don't know if it's because that kind of pretty maleness makes them uncomfortable, or if it's just, "I don't want to look like that myself, and I don't want to fuck that myself, so it's irrelevant." Or some other dudely third thing.

But when you skip right over the pretty pretty guys, I guess you're left with guys like the Hemsworths, and, IDK, Armie Hammer and Jensen Ackles from 2012 as your concept of what a "pretty man" looks like. Good-looking guys, beautiful even, attractive to many a person — but pretty? Come on.
