Let me follow up with: I don't condone or agree with people who say "you need therapy"/"get therapy" as a dunk on people's ships/kinks/fandom preferences. As said upthread, if anything, role-playing or exploring one's comforts/curiosities/fears is healthy. I would prefer to read up weird kinks or learn about what is appealing to people about certain kinks via books, videos, etc than to simply judge them on something that I don't understand and/or it makes me uncomfortable.
