There are flight logs that disprove your opinion about the environmental harm she causes. She’s actually the worst single person offender. And if you go anywhere online you will see plenty of people who boycott Walmart, Amazon, Tesla, and many others.

Uh, no. Flights, even private ones, are not anywhere near as bad for the environment as factories, deforestation, and a whole host of other things.

As do hundreds of other celebrities. No one is saying she isn't bad for the environment. We're saying that so are many other people, she isn't unique in that regard. Claiming she's on the level of Musk, Amazon, or any of the other companies who are actually the ones destroying the environment is absolutely absurd.

Which is bad, but the way you people go after Tswift specifically and only as if she is the sole reason any of this happens, when the reason it happens is capitalism, and to exist in capitalism is to unfortunately encourage it by the nature of how it works.

I hope you don't own anything at all because there is nothing you own that wasn't made by those that were exploited overseas.

They've come up with this narrow category of "single person" which can include someone who owns their own business I guess if that business is their own name brand, but not someone who owns any other kind of business so they can exclude Bezos, Musk, Tim Cook, etc. but include Taylor. They just want to hate on her.

Just wanted to say that I really appreciated you spending the effort to be a voice of reason ITT. I appreciate the other commenters who did the same, but as a named user it makes more sense to tell you so, because you'll actually see it.

I feel like seeing the kind of weirdly biased and OTT hate Taylor Swift gets can be really demoralizing, because it's so reflective of a lot of Western society's attitudes towards women in general. Taylor Swift really does exist perpetually at the eye of the "god forbid a woman do anything" vortex, and seeing those attitudes play out on such a massive scale can be really demoralizing. Not even because I feel bad for Taylor herself (she blatantly doesn't need my sympathy), but because it's like, we as a society really just can never leave this shit behind us, can we? We seem to learn, but in the end we can never just let women be people, and value them as people, and respond to them as people.

So it's just nice to see people push back against those shitty narratives in ways that feel reasonable and unbiased.

Thanks. I just find the obsessive hate as strange and off-putting as the obsessive love. I have a RL friend who is a massively obsessed stan, and I find her obsession strange. But the level of hate here is equally strange to me.

Okay, so why are you here stroking your hateboner for Taylor Swift, when there are dozens if not hundreds of celebrities who helm whole-ass corporate businesses centered around selling consumer goods? You really think her album and merch sales are even remotely on the scale of a celeb who has a popular makeup/clothing/haircare brand?

If you do, you are deluded. And that's not even taking into account that many of the celebs who have successful brands are also selling their own personal merch as well.

But frankly, it's not the celebs you should be focusing on at all. Focusing on them is the epitome of hating the player while being permissive about the game. Save it for the actual corrupt, monopolistic, capitalist overlords who are knowingly running our societies and our planet into the ground because no matter how unlivable things get for most of us, they will always be fine.
