Nope the increased fan entitlement is actually what has been ruining fandom for over a decade, not regular people getting into it and finding a new hobby or just poking around for fun.

Also a lot of regular people knew what cosplay and fanfic was well before 2020 they just didn't go looking at it.

What increased entitlement? I guess it varies from a fandom to another but I don’t get half as many Let’s See If You A Woman Are A Real Nerd / Gamer / Weeaboo nowadays

Fans having a direct line to show runners and writers created an absolutely awful subset of fans who think that if they scream loud enough they’ll get their way, it started out annoying and they only got louder as the 2010’s went on.
