Maybe it's hindsight bias, but I feel like I knew that Life of a Showgirl wasn't going to be very good. Like, from the second she announced it.

1. She's happy. She never writes her best when she's happy.
2. It's her 12th album. Yes every album has crazy high expectations on it, but TS13 is going to have them even more. By a lot. If I were Taylor, I would be hoarding any song that even seemed *slightly* genius for that album.

The upshot of this is that Showgirl turned out to be way better than I expected, and it's a nice surprise! At the first listen it was just...fine, but at this point I genuinely like it.

(I mean, I wish someone had slapped some sense into her about Wood, but one cringey song is not the end of the world or her career.)

And when I see people complaining about a fandom getting too many secrets, it just makes me want to make even more about it, just out of pure childish spite.

fr. confession time: i fucking hate star wars. i hate it. i've watched the original trilogy after hearing all my life about how great it is and i did not care for it at all. i don't get the hype. i don't like any star wars things i care about. and every single week there are secrets about star wars and i would never reply bitching to those because this place is literally for all types of fandoms. people can make secrets about the most popular shit on the planet or about some obscure media franchise from the 80s. it's all fair game and ofc no one is going to care about all of them. idk if people are used to the algorithm only showing them shit they are interested in, but life doesn't always work that way

I am not really mad. I was frustrated when I've made a first comment, because not only I am not interested in her anything, the secrets have been so repetitive I feel like I am in some kind of shitty time-loop situation. But anons were so indignant about my comment, that now I am kinda having fun. So fire away, make more secrets to spite me or whatever. Maybe at least I will get some entertainment value.

I kinda got the impression from some of the pre-release secrets that all but her most rabid fans were expecting it to be one of her lesser albums. But it seems like even those fans found something they like on it so good for them.
