Kind of based on 2

What media did you revisit and realize was kind of awful?

Beetlejuice. I loved it as a kid, but as an adult, I just absolutely loathed Beetlejuice himself, and I'm kind of tired of people idolizing him as a character. Ew.

I remember finding him awful as a kid. Like it was funny but also to kid me he seemed like the funny villain that lost at the end? I've never really involved myself with fandom or anything so I had no idea he was idolized!

The couple's face changing and the sandworm thing also terrified me as a kid. I had complicated feelings about this movie!

i saw it as an adult and didn't get the appeal tbh

Ghost Busters. I mostly found it really, really unfunny and didn't like any of the characters.

Snow White(cartoon) is slow and very, very boring. It was a feat of animation technology at the time, but it's easily one of the dullest movies I've watched.

The guy Ghostbusters were obnoxious, particularly Bill Murray's character and I usually love Bill Murray characters. The women Ghostbusters were A LOT more funny and likeable.

I love the women Ghostbusters movie! It's hilarious. I've watched it with a few people and they all loved it too.

God I hated ghostbusters as a kid. I was just barely old enough to recognize how sexist and awful the characters were and I hated that everyone just ignored that.

The Neverending Story. It isn't terrible but it has way more boring parts that I remembered. Must have blocked them out as a kid.

This is one I'll still rewatch! I admit I do skip some scenes and it's definitely a movie I'll be doing something else during, like crochet, but I still really dig it.

One in the same vein/time frame I rewatched and found sadly incredibly boring to the point I never finished watching was The Dark Crystal. God I loved that movie when I was younger.

Well, I noticed some of the flaws in the earlier Harry Potter books that I didn't notice before because I was so into the characters and world. But the later books just weren't as good and my interest started to wane and I started seeing flaws I hadn't seen before.

I've noticed more and more flaws in the Lord of the Rings movies. And yet I still love them. But I do feel like I notice more issues the more I watch, as much as I love them.

Dead Set
A UK series where a zombie apocalypse happens during a big brother type reality show. It's too fast, with no build up and no one is likeable.

Ngl I enjoyed that one for everything and everyone being terrible, and also questioning the contestants for keeping that producer guy alive when he was so obviously going to fuck them over. And he did! Shocker!

Terrible show but I found it entertaining.

Welcome Back Kotter. I was obsessed with that show when I was about 13. I watched it many years later and didn't find it funny at all. and what a sausage fest! The only woman on it was Kotter's wife who had no personality and only existed to laugh at his dumb old jokes and say fascinating lines like "and then what happened, honey?"

Ghostbusters. Loved it when I was a kid (and the theme song still rocks) but as an adult, wow, Venkman is an annoying creep with sexual predator vibes. I don't like Bill Murray anymore, either, and can't understand why people give him a pass.

Escape to Witch Mountain. The original, not the remake (which I never saw). It wasn't awful so much as incredibly underwhelming. I had childhood memories of it being this awesome, exciting movie and thinking the twins' powers were so cool to watch in action. It made me wish I also had telekinesis. As an adult, I was prepared for the special effects to be cheesier than I remembered, but I wasn't prepared for the almost total lack of action or suspense, and a final "battle" that was over in like a minute.
