Re: Backpacking!
(Anonymous) 2025-10-25 12:44 am (UTC)(link)Cranberry Wilderness looks awesome! And relatively speaking that's pretty close to where I'm going! We'll be hiking part of the AT in George Washington National Forest.
I have a 30F down quilt, a fleece liner, a Big Agnes Rapide XL pad, and a small thing of reflective insulation to add under it. The insulation and the fleece liner are new and I have high hopes for them adding a lot of warmth. If it's really freezing I have a Nalgene bottle I sometimes fill with hot water and shove in the bag with me. I'm just lazy and don't want to waste the fuel boiling the water if I think I'll be warm enough without it.
I'm also bringing more clothes this time. Usually I just sleep in my hiking clothes or a variation of them (often just a fresh top), but this time I'm bringing a separate wool top and wool leggings and a pair of wool socks to sleep in. The day time temps are supposed to be around 60F so I def don't need all that for the actual hiking!
