To be more specific, they said it succeeds at having a monster protagonist who feels monstrous. They compared it to Someone You Can Build a Nest In, where they said the monster doesn’t feel monstrous enough because she only kills bad people.

Yeah, run from that person. It’s pretty much accepted in the genre fandoms that ELLC is a red flag in itself. I think the only reason it’s managed to avoid getting buried in oblivion is because Jeff Hays narrates the audiobooks.
