A band I really like announced a new album after a decent hiatus, and when they put out the tour schedule, I couldn't believe it. They're playing a venue in my neighborhood. I can walk to it, and it's THE NIGHT BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY. Perfect, right? I bought a ticket (at a great price) immediately. So what if no one I know wants to come with me? I don't love that it's SRO, but I'm a grown woman, I can probably find a decent place in the crowd without getting squished. The time and place of it seems fated!

Well, the album came out. And it is APPALLINGLY mid. Every song sounds alike and I think they spent their entire hiatus getting up their own assholes narratively. I don't want an entire evening of THAT. It all feels like a cosmic joke. At least it's not a milestone birthday.

This show was recommended to me some time ago because #relatable
I couldn’t watch it past couple of episodes because I had a full-blown anxiety attack. I was already past my full-time office job at that time. And the job didn’t last THAT long, and it wasn’t especially toxic. If you don’t count me saying every other day "no" to unpaid overtime. I feel like such a weakling.

I wish there was a dedicated place in fandom where I could go to participate in shipping wars. I don't want them poisoning general fandom spaces, obviously, but I'd genuinely like to be able to go somewhere and just argue my face off about how my ship is the bestest ship and how rival ships are boring and/or give me the ick. Not because I think it actually matters, or because I think one ship is objectively better than another, or because I think one ship is more moral than another. None of that. It's just that I would enjoy being able to argue vociferously about something I care enough to have strong feelings about, but that is ultimately extremely trivial and silly.

i do find it interesting that every time, every single time without fail that someone criticizes her in any way shape or form, someone comes bursting in like the fucking kool aid man blasting through the wall to scream MISOGYNY!!!! sometimes they even claim that they aren't a fan, but they make damn sure to let you know that if you have something negative to say about this billionaire who has been privileged from birth, you hate women.

I honestly hope it is one of the "joke" supes who take down Homelander in The Boys/GenV. The show always makes such a big thing about power levels, and has the badguys make disparaging remarks about how unfit the normal people and "joke" supes are. As well as one baddie outright saying he is gonna genocide any supe whose powers are not seen as serious enough. It would be fitting for one of them to take them down, the ultimate refutation of the evil nazi ideology promulgated by Vought et al.

I want more gender-non-conforming male characters that are canonically, unquestionably, cis and het.

Don't get me wrong, canonically trans/queer characters are cool and I would like more of those too! But they don't - and can't, by definition - fill the same niche presenting the idea that a cishet man can wear whatever he wants and have whatever interests he wants and it doesn't make him any less cis or any less het.

Female characters are allowed to be very cis and very het and very tomboy all the time, so they don't really lack this archetype... where are my cishet male characters that idk, like skirts because they're comfy and easy to wear, and it doesn't automatically mean A) they're into men or B) actually-not-cis-men-at-all?

You'll get death threats eventually. Polite arguing is not possible online. People will call each other slurs, mock grammar, etc. OP won't be able to talk civilly too. If they ere able to stay polite and pleasant they wouldn't need anything but the general fandom places for that.

This is a dream for me, too. Like honest to god: We had to many men in the 80's and 90's who were clearly straight but gave everyone The Confusion because of their fashion choices.

Comfort in masculinity doesn't have to mean sweats, hole-run socks, or a suit and tie. God. Give me some men who don't give a single FIG about a frill, a skirt (or a dress, for that matter), heels or some apparent makeup. When did it become the norm for a straight guy to only want to wear A Specific Style and Uniform? Yikes. Boring.

And you know what? If any of that overlaps with the inherent masculinity norms of the time? Even better. Be secure. Be wild. Do what you want. It's the 20's--let's shake things up!
