I've heard enough of MASH from my parents to speak about Max, at least. The series is set in a military hospital tent during the Korean War, and Max is trying to get himself declared insane so they will send him home, thus spends all his time dressing in increasingly feminine dresses and skirts and stuff. It never works, but at the same time nobody makes fun of him for it, they just treat him the same as anyone else. Quite a wholesome example, actually.
