My aunt has had chronic kidney stones for the last two decades, and she has had the lithotripsy procedure at least ten times. It's been really effective and turned the 11/10 pain into about a 3/10 every time. (Though the 3/10 pain did linger for a few weeks). And it's been getting easier every time. So there's some alternative anecdata at least. Good luck.
