Whenever an anti falsely accuses me of being a pedo due to me being a proshipper orwhen i get anon hate I comfort myself by telling myself that these people wouldn't dare say such nasty shit to me irl or they'd be getting a black eye and their teeth shoved down their throat. (I am a CSA survivor and i don't take kindly to being harassed or slandered)

I can agree that as someone who uses fiction as a form of safely engaging with some messed up things that happened to me as a child, I have a hard time dealing with antishippers.

It's very similar to people in general (both inside and outside fandom) who say they hate rapists or abusive "monsters", but then have little to no compassion towards people who accuse someone else of abuse. Especially if the accuser does not fall under the Perfect Victim umbrella (and even if they do, they will still have skeptics who find any excuse not to believe them).

I've come to understand that people just want to pat themselves on the back and find ways to project their "goodness" by projecting "badness" onto other people who they determine is "not a real victim."

No one's a "real victim" in these people's eyes (someone I know hinted that a woman who'd been murdered by her husband after he found out she was pregnant and he'd been cheating oh her with a coworker deserved it because per texts she'd be writing to him days before her murder she "sounded like a bitch"...still disturbs me to this day) and it's not my job to help them find some compassion and nuance. I only end up harming myself by trying to do what I think is the right thing, so I've learned to not engage.
