Fuck it. ICE has said they will be out patrolling during trick or treating. And they will not promise to not use tear gas around kids. Fuck.

Also, the high immigration court just put down a decision that will make it all but impossible to get asylum.

Fuck. I just can't. The evil running this country right now just keeps getting worse and worse.

If you're not in the US and are on FS, you're likely better off than the user you're replying to. Please consider donating to an nonprofit that helps victims of ICE, or a GoFundMe for someone who needs funds for a court case or to leave the country.

Man, I'd take rampaging horror movie monsters over those heartless shitstains any day. I'm ashamed to share a country with them, but then, they don't want to share the country with me, either.

Feed people? House them? Nah. Imprison, torture, and kill people? Sure! Especially if they're brown or talk funny.

I know there's a chance we don't recover from this as a nation, and even if we do, the odds of actually having even the often threadbare social safety net and some notion of the public good we had prior to January 2025 again within my lifetime aren't great.

But oh, do I fantasize about the backlash to their bullshit being so comprehensive that we fully fund USAID, SNAP, a public option for healthcare, public education, national parks, public housing, public transit, green energy, museums, and scientific research at unprecedented levels, and massively downsize and redirect all the evil shit this admin prioritizes. And disband ICE and CBP. They can just be CE, inspecting incoming and outgoing shipments for poached critters and invasive agricultural pests.

But realistically we'll be lucky if we ever get back to "it's not actually a crime to be brown."
