Okay, Shakespeare.

I think you're reading in some tone or assumptions that I just don't see in that comment. Or maybe you have some unusual opinions on Shakespeare?

They just seem really full of themselves, IDK how to put it. Calling them "Shakespeare" was me addressing the air of "I'm so much better than those plebs who might add on to my orphaned fics."

AYRT - well that wasn't what I was thinking when I wrote the original comment, but this immediate "let's jump to reading things in the worst faith possible" attitude is so insufferable that yeah, if someone thinks like this I do in fact think I'm better than them and I'm not sorry about it at all.

Yeah, I got that from your comment. And I don’t see any of that “air” in what they actually said.

It felt like you were making an incredibly uncharitable reading of a pretty neutral statement.

I know you're implying AYRT thinks they're as important as Shakespeare, and I know this is beside your point, but Shakespeare didn't write his plays and poems as an attempt to immortilize himself as a literary figure. He was a theatre actor/playwright whose works were able to survive through centuries because he and his theatre company created plays that were accessible to common folk, the wealthy class, and theatre groups.

Like IDK 2/10 burn level
You got a white hot poker but you just singed the sleeve of their jacket

(Anonymous) 2025-11-02 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
Of course he didn't, but he did make them to be seen and accessible to the public. I'd say that the burn is appropriate.

(Anonymous) 2025-11-02 09:35 am (UTC)(link)
Then the burn does not burn because AYRT did the exact opposite. They deleted their works so it wasn't in the public? Just own up to a crappy insult that didn't land.
