I had a period of time as a child where I really genuinely believed that I would never be as good as my peers... because I wasn't pale and/or blonde like the girls in the fairytales. As an adult, I can't believe that there were no non-blonde and non-pale protagonists in my books, but I do definitely remember this certainty that I would never be good enough to be the main character in a story. I was reasonably happy to settle for being a repentant ugly sister.

As a ficto, Whenever I see/hear someone ask "How can people be attracted to fictional characters?! How can people attracted to something that is not real. I don't understand it" I get uncomfortable/tense and/or avoid that person because it reminds me of what my bullies used to say.

I was bullied for having crushes on fictional characters during middle school and high school, a girl once overheard me make an offhand remark about Squall and Sephiroth being attractive in the then- relatively new Kingdom Hearts games (mid 2000s). She turned around sand said in the most snotty tone 'You find a fictional character hot? They're not even real! You're insane" After that I was bullied for ages and harassed by my peers. They would spread rumours about me nd insult me to my face. Pointing out how weird I was. Nobody wanted to be friends with me. During this time I also lost what little attraction for real people I had, I became exclusivley ficto.

I'm now in my early 30s, even today I don't like talking about my interests or crushes outside of online ficto/nerd safe spaces. I keep to myself irl out of fear of being mocked/ judged . People wonder why I'm so reserved.

I knew that there would be a lot of video essays on this show and that a lot of well-meaning gentiles would be misinterpreting Judaism and Jewish culture.

The most consistent one that drives me up a wall is referring to becoming Orthodox as "converting". Every. Single. Video. Y'all. You don't convert to Orthodox Judaism when you're born Jewish. It's not a separate religion. It's choosing to ramp up your degree of observance in a religion that has some pretty wild laws that a lot of us just can't with. I mean good for those that can do it, but it takes a special mindset.

And people around the newly Orthodox person (trying not to spoil) aren't mad because they've "switched religions". They're mad because newly Orthodox people are massive pains in the ass, especially right when they're new to Orthodoxy and all self-conscious about following as many laws as possible and dragging other Jews into it with guilt.

I love that there's so many bi characters and so much canon F/F in this game. I don't have to ship it, because it ships itself for me! Even if it doesn't always go the way I'd prefer it to. Starla/Harriet should've been endgame, GDI.

But in an explicitly LGBTQ positive game where all the girls are allowed to be flirty and sexual and in active ships with each other and 'pick your pride pin' is literally an avatar option... it's starting to get a little bit awkward that all the queer male/nb characters are basically monks whose sexuality is A) nonexistent B) theoretical C) fully past tense or D) insincere manipulation.

Like, I'd totally get it if it were an explicitly girls' love or sapphic game! But it's not... and I hope it doesn't end up in the pile of games where het is fine, lesbians are cool, but gays are a bit too gay.

I'm so un-hyped about Tron:Ares. From the actor over to the fact that it's apparently set irl/not set in the Grid for any significant amount of time and how Tron as a character won't even appear as the small cameo he had (as himself) in Legacy, nothing about it seems interesting to me. Even the soundtrack - while so far it looks like it's the only decent thing about it - is droning on too much for my tastes. I get it, it's their style and it does fit the setting but listening to it gave me a headache.
