My very first fandom, that I was obsessed with when I was five, was Garfield comics. I am now 47 years old. Sorry, did I make you feel old?

Simpsons fans ain't got nothing on us Garfield fans.

I had never quite thought of it that way but YES Garfield was my first fandom! I was obsessed with the comics and I had all kinds of Garfield stuff, t-shirts and pens and notebooks and all. I still have such a soft spot for it<333

I never thought of it that way, but same! At one point I had all the books, when they were still in the smaller format. I liked the 'arcs' that the comic sometimes had, like Garfield getting lost for a couple weeks or that weird one where he wakes up in an empty house. Also I basically learned to draw because of him, the third (I think?) book had a 'how to draw Garfield' page and I practiced it forever, me and one of the kids in my third grade class had a contest going for who could draw the best Garfield.

In any case, I'm happy for you OP. I used to love going to a second hand bookshop and getting some Garfield or Snoopy books for a few bucks when I was a kid, and I still have them.
