Doctor's Appointment

(Anonymous) 2025-11-12 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. It is my yearly checkup that I made a year ago. Around noon today, I started getting a sore throat. Feels like it might be strep (which I get like 3 times a year). Should I cancel or go with a mask? My appointment is at 8am when they open so I can't call ahead of time. I was supposed to get blood work so I'm not sure how this will effect that.

Go with a mask. Blood work is unlikely to be affected unless you're getting tested for inflammatory markers, and if you are, just discuss that with your doctor when you get the results.

I agree with nonny above. I’d go with a mask and let the nurse and/or doctor know about how you’re feeling so they can take that into account.

Probably not relevant to you, but if you’re at all prone to getting faint when they take your blood, might want to ask if you can lay down for that bit since being sick (especially if you’re fasting) can make it worse.

Oh no, I'm good with blood taking. I donate blood regularly.

Thirding the advice to go with a mask.
