Maybe a small fire extinguisher for your apartment, if you don't have one already.

I'm in the same boat, down to asking for kitchen utensils. I want a new cutting board, wooden, to replace the scraped and warped (won't lay flat anymore) plastic one I have, and a new thermos, because on all the ones I own the press-button-to-open-spout-for-pouring mechanism is broken.

I've also been thinking of asking for more good quality everyday stuff in general. Take Post-Its: they have better paper, and stick and come off as needed, than cheap or novelty sticky notes. But every time I stand before the selection in the store, I just cannot bring myself to spend twice the amount of money on brand sticky notes over the cheap kind, and then I regret it when I have to use them. Post-Its, cellotape, band-aids (anything that is supposed to stick, really), but also Sharpies, brand tissues that are soft on the nose and don't dissolve in the washing machine if you forget them in your pocket, ... Kind of stupid, but they are nicer to use than the cheap stuff.

Ha, I just wrote about how soft brand tissues are nice before reading your comment.

Seconding this!! I'm usually fine with cheap tissues, but when I'm sick I always use the nice, soft kind with some kind of balm in them. Worth every penny.

The movies ignored Finn so hard I feel like everything we think we know about him is just projection. Which is to say, I wouldn't be interested in his movie either. I'm not interested in any of the new gen characters. I could imagine movies I might be interested in, but I'll save that for fix-it fic.

I liked Finn as a character, and there were some things concerning him in The Force Awakens that came across in a "record-scratch" kind of way. However, I do think they did a decent job of developing his arc as a person who initially just wanted to get away from the First Order and wanted nothing to do with the Resistance to someone who was fully committed to the Resistance over the course of the first two movies. I think Finn was a good, interesting character and worked very well as a supporting character, but that's what he was, a supporting character. Same with Poe.

But I'd still rather have a movie with Rey as the protagonist again, since she and Kylo were the ones set up as foils to each other and they are the ones that actually had the dyad connection in the movies.

Different groups of fans are going to want different things.

Yeah, that is very obviously a spam bot comment. I kind of worry about people that we're not able to tell between spam bots and real people, especially when the bot comments are so outrageously meritless like this. Like, I just don't think anyone would spend time sincerely typing comments like this in response to a complete stranger. Like "delete your comment"? Really? Reminds me of teenagers going "delete ur account!!" back in the 2010s. Well, I suppose that means some people WOULD do this sincerely, but those people really do not deserve an iota of your time. Report them (https://transformativeworks.tumblr.com/post/800055206080643072/harassment-spam-bot-alert) and move on.

Sadly, yes. Finn had the most interesting backstory of all the new characters and I was so disappointed by his ending in TROS, but I have no desire to see John Boyega reprise his role.

You're so right about everyday things being nicer to use when they're better quality. Some stuff is ok to skimp on or get the generic, but sometimes it genuinely is worth getting the more expensive stuff because it's just better.

I don't know. I hadn't really thought about it because no one ever gets me gifts, if anything I get money. Usually I buy myself some stuff but I don't really want anything this year except maybe a new phone and that is out of my budget.

If I could have ANYTHING I'd take, like, a weekend, a few days, just all to myself. Not having to be around anyone. I love my family and my friends and my partner and even my coworkers are great, but if I could have a solid 48 hours of not having to talk to or deal with a single living soul, I think I'd be in heaven. I've considered renting a cabin in a vacation area a few hours from me just by myself for a few days but I feel like people would genuinely flip out on me if I did that - "What, what do you mean, where are you going, why, can I come with you, why don't you want someone to go along, are you ok," etc etc etc. And it wouldn't be worth it to have to deal with that.

I want one of those little Dirt Devil hand vacuums. It would be so useful for cleaning upholstery and small spaces in my apartment.

I agree, some of my favorite ships are ones where the characters struggle with their sexuality or the expression thereof. I like reading about them being imperfect and working through shame. Or just being ashamed of their own desires in a sexy way.
