I have done a ton of free fandom work over the years. There's no 'it's only fandom' about it to me: when I volunteer for something, I have made a commitment and promise to other people. If I say I'll be there, I'll be there.

But that said... the amount of bitching and moaning from whiny, entitled fans that take fellow fans' effort for granted means that I commit to less and less things now.

Bonus: it's always the middle aged fans crying about how fandom isn't the 90s any more that are the worst
