DS9, and the "Trek" franchise in general. I'd certainly been familar with it on a general "pop culture" level and knew about some of the more notable characters/ships and so forth, but I'd never actually watched any of the series - I think it was just one of these long-running franchises that kind of intimidated me for a time.

Then this past year a friend introduced me to DS9 and I got hooked and went through that entire series, and now I'm planning to get into the other series in the franchise as well. Just started in on TNG and having fun with that one now, too.
