Like, I like decorating in video games, but I also like the life sim aspect. I probably sound like a thousand other broken records, but there were a lot more goals to unlock with New Leaf. Once you hit 3 stars and you unlock KK Slider, New Horizons is pretty much over unless you want to go into heavy design. You used to be asked to do little quests by the villagers etc. For such an expensive game, there's really not that much replay value except unlocks and designing

And, the whole recipes. Is there an incentive to unlock all the cooking recipes? Even then, if there was, it would be a golden chef's hat or something, which you could just buy through Nookazon if you absolutely wanted it

The whole game is just accumulating things, and even then, you can just spam fish enough sea bass until you have enough bells to trade with someone who does have it.

Yes, exactly! If you're not really into designing and customizing your island, you run out of gameplay kind of early, I feel like. Don't get me wrong, I love the game, and I don't regret buying it, and I still play it, but as someone who really appreciates the life sim aspect, I wish they'd leaned into that more and were adding more of that with the update. I totally agree with you and the thousand other broken records about the older games having more depth.
