Looks like she's adopted a "no comment" stance on most things like this. If she sticks to it, I respect the hell out of it.

Because once you join the discourse, good fucking luck extricating yourself.

I mean when she endorsed Harris she entered the ring I feel, so I do think she can't retreat into "no comment" without having people question why.

(Anonymous) 2025-11-22 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
I don't respect it.

We need every voice to stand up against fascism, even it's just to say "don't fucking use my music."

It. Is. Meaingless. Performativity. You fucking dumbass.

We are in the mess partially because of people like you, who confuse signifiers with reality.

(Anonymous) 2025-11-22 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Nayrt - thank you! People need to fucking wake up. Celebrities don't matter when it comes to the reality of politics.

(Anonymous) 2025-11-22 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, resorting to calling people names now, are you?

We're in this mess because a bunch of people decided to play purity politics when fascism was banging on the door. (Well, that and Citizens United, Reagan, corporate media licking MAGA boots, and so on.)

Performativity in general is annoying but it has its uses. It isn't meaningless if it can be used to make the other side look bad, or to rally people against the other side.

But do whatever you need to feel good about supporting someone who doesn't speak up against fascism.

I generally prefer when celebs refuse to let the public browbeat them into things that shouldn't be their responsibility in the first place. If a celeb is going to take a stance on something, I want it to be because they want to, not because they're resigned to being the public's bitch.

In Taylor's case, anyone who thinks she supports Trump simply because she hasn't dignified his miserable toddler ass with her attention is pretty clearly someone who wants to believe the worst about her and is using any excuse they can find to do so.

They're also someone who has foregone any sort of understanding of the larger picture.

Her saying something wouldn't change anything about Trump or his administration; all it would do is give him more attention, which he could and would use to his advantage. These people all want to feed oxygen to a blazing fire because they're more focused on their own pettiness than on what actually does and does not work.

(Anonymous) 2025-11-22 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
How? How would the president use the attention to his advantage?

Why is worrying about that more important than knowing you have an ally against the orange fascist?

Nothing would change? How do you know? You don't topple a regime with one person, true, but every bit of support they lose actually does help. It's not one-and-done thing.
