i think the fact that she's litigious with everything EXCEPT with this it's what's bothering people, and that added to the fact that her circle nowadays seems to be MAGA adjacent, some people are demanding a stance from her, which is valid
personally i think it is hilarious to expect a billionaire eco-terrorist to come out as left-leaning/say anything about the current american administration. she's clearly not bothered by it lmao

(Anonymous) 2025-11-22 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)That's not valid at all. The fact that people think it is valid to demand opinions and stances from famous people on topics is just silly.
There was a celebrity recently (sorry, I forget who) that came out and said they thought long and hard about it and looked at the data and decided that supporting/speaking out on issues really doesn't do any valid good so they had decided to just keep their opinions to themselves and only talk about career related things. They got torn apart by some fans but I think that's the most mature take I've seen and wish more celebrities would follow.

did you just go and ignore the reasons why i said it was valid to demand a stance from her? lmao
it IS valid when they have these huge platforms and followings. wasn't ariana grande who posted a link to raise funds for the red cross in palestine and they raised a lot more that they would've if she didn't do that? hell, didn't taylor post something about registering to vote on the previous american election and TONS of more people registered???
the issue here is she's purposefully being silent when she wasn't before, and people are dragging her for that, because clearly taking a stance isn't convenient for her anymore.

(Anonymous) 2025-11-22 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)I agree that in general, it's weird to demand an opinion from anyone. But this isn't some random thing.
The party of pedos and pedo protectors are using her music. They are associating her music with pedophilia, disappearing brown people who are largely non-criminals contributing to their community, a tanking economy, sacrificing the part of a historic structure for a tacky as fuck ballroom, an orange dementia-riddled diaper-shitting president with cankles and a pussy neck who is putting his country's security at risk because he doesn't want to upset another country's president who has evidence that he sucked the dick of someone named Bubba, and just general racism, misogyny, antisemitism, islamophobia and bigotry.
If you were a musician/artist, why would you want to be tied to that mess in any way?
If Taylor can take in 2 billion dollars from a tour her fans went out to support, then she can spend five minutes telling this fascist regime to fuck off. Especially since some of her fans are being harmed by the regime. Like, I'm sorry MAGA decided to pick her music but the fact is it has been picked, and now it's on her to decide if she's okay with being associated with everything MAGA is.
I briefly had some respect for her when she got something like 13,000 people to register to vote. But since then, not so much. She doesn't care about her fans or what happens to this country, because as a person with privilege, she will be insulated from anything bad.
And the thing is, there's always going to be someone who doesn't like what you do. I would have more respect for her if she spoke up, but maybe caring about the suffering of others where it counts isn't who she is. And maybe on some level I accept that, which is why I have no trouble criticizing her. But I think people with privilege ought to be criticized the most when they're on the wrong side of history.
