Transcript - 9-1-1 Nashville

A lot of the appeal of the first two entries in this franchise was the nominal commitment to diversity despite being headlined by cis straight white men.

This one isn't even trying to pretend it's about anything other than the straight white guys. No one else gets screen time. I am irrationally disappointed.

Bonus Disappointment: they keep shoving Christianity in the viewers' faces. omfg, keep your creepy cult to yourself. At this point Captain Smokeshow is not hot enough to compensate for this asininity.

Meanwhile many are fed up of the forced diversity where every new show is led by a black woman and the white guys are just idiots, and every other character is gay or trans or non binary. White straight men still exist in far greater numbers than black lesbians. And Christianity exists, not everyone is a godless atheist or headscarf obsessed muslim. Get over yourself and stop demanding media be some utopian (or from the other perspective dystopian) tick box diversity list of BOLD BEAUTIFUL BLACK NONBINARY TRANS LEBIANS. And if you want that shit, stick to the streaming services instead of network shows, they have more of that diverse crap like black elves and black covid survivors.

It's 9-1-1 Nashville not 9-1-1 Portland or some shit.

But it's really more likely a reaction to last year's presidential election and the mistaken belief that "woke" is dead.

Yes, and? 911 Lone Star was fairly diverse.

In the 2020 census, Nashville was 53.3% white. That's not an "it makes sense for every character that matters to be white" demographic

nayrt but I've been to Nashville a dozen times, for business. the ol' boy country scene has mated with the evangelical chrisosphere and morphed into an unholy white atmosphere which, yes, is at odds with the actual demographic of the area. it's not about who lives there, it's about who they want the rest of the US to believe lives there.

I used to be part of the CCM bubble. all of contemporary jesus pop is literally centered in Nashville. for 40-50 years it was the hub, the only reason it has shrunk since 2002 has been the overall shrinkage of the music industry. It's still basically where all the evangelicals flock to, the churches are essentially celebrity hubs. so what OP is seeing in this crappy tv show is born out of that culture - the white evangelicals treating Nashville as their holy city to which all must aspire, whether they be deep south country folk or high-class church grifters. I get it, I really do, and it's ugly and not worth supporting with your watching.

The Christian stuff is just weird!

Not every religion you hate, or even every group of people with a belief that is objectively bad, is a cult. Cannot wait for survivors of actual cults to start cracking down on y'all about this.

*Some cults are Christian-based, but Christianity isn't a cult. Or else you better start calling Buddhism a cult too because there are fucktons of Buddhist cults around here.
